Have you tried counseling for yourself or your child but were required by your counselor to relive your traumatic experience either in session or through a journal? Did you quit or feel worse from the experience?

Please don’t give up on counseling. All approaches are not alike and do not require reliving the experience.

There is a wealth of studies indicating that counseling which forces you to relive an event (called exposure-therapy), is not more effective than other counseling approaches in which you are not forced to discuss the event.
