Today I presented a three hour discussion on the evidence of clinical practice for the practice graduate class in which I compared practice-based evidence and evidence-based practice. Meta-studies of counseling show that any bona-fide clinical approach to counseling is helpful most of the time regardless of the approach. This means that people who seek counseling, provided that the approach fits with their sensibilities and style, are 80% better off after counseling than those who do not and are experiencing a similar issue.
